As one of Greenland’s leading seafood producers, we commit ourselves to addressing climate and environmental responsibilities. Fish production inevitably requires substantial energy and water, and we are committed to reducing our overall resource consumption. Our goal is to minimise our environmental footprint and enhance our positive impact on climate and nature. We achieve this by focusing on four key areas: reducing energy and water consumption, optimising raw material utilisation, and improving waste management.
Polar Seafood believes that responsible actions create long-term value for everybody. Social improvements not only benefit society but also strengthen our business. Through financial contributions, the creation of local jobs and educational programmes, we actively support the local communities and Greenlandic society, focusing on education, sports, cultural development and charitable organisations.
We comply with all TAC (Total Allowable Catch) requirements as well as national and international regulations on quality and food safety. This approach also enables us to fish under several MSC-certified fisheries. We also actively participate and maintain an open dialogue with authorities, organisations and customers to continuously improve our processes and products in line with current standards. Through the establishment of the association Sustainable Fisheries Greenland (SFG) and our active participation in the association, we work towards improvements in the fishing industry and sustainable seafood.
